awards ceremony
When you’ve been ‘ooh-ing’ and ahhhing over spectacular design, its nice to know that other people share your opinion and there
is no greater confirmation of that than a design award from Wallpaper magazine.
The designs in question are the Spun chair designed by Thomas Heatherwick and produced by Magis and the Binic tablelamp by Foscarini.
Thomas Heatherwick was awarded the greatest accolade of designer of the year, when your career spans across sculptural artwork, product design and the odd amazing building here and there there is certainly alot of prode involved in receiving such a great award. The judges highlighted Heatherwick’s recently launched Spun chair by Magis for its quirk and innovation which amply refelcts the talents of the designer but also embraces technology and the mood of the current furniture design world.
The Binic table lamp wins the award for best desk lamp. A diminutive design with a colour palette which screams quiet quality, though it is almost a breakaway from the often striking and breathtaking pieces that have become synonmous with the brand of Foscarini.
