Design For Life Endorsed By Mr Hill….

October 27th, 2009

A week has passed since our northern girl Ilsa Parry was announced the winner of the recent BBC 2 series ‘Design For Life’ where prolific designer Phillipe Starck put discerning new talent to the test and offered a training place at his Paris agency as the prize.
The series started so well with the first couple of episodes promising much, however the whole thing could surely have been condensed into 2 or 3 episodes? As it was my attention had begun to wane.
Ilsa was, in my opinion, ultimately a worthy winner and I’m sure her passion is without question and her focus true…it would be lovely to see a follow up programme charting her six month placement however please spare us the extended broadcast we were subjected to during the selection process.
All the best then to Ilsa but also to lovely runner up Mike who was equally passionate but in the end didn’t have Ilsa’s killer instinct…..no room for Mr Nice Guy in this business perhaps and that is how Mike was portrayed, a true gentleman.
Finally the best review came from Harry Hill on Saturday night’s TV Burp. I nearly choked on my chow mein when he highlighted former housemate Helen’s self defence light in his own hilarious way….the whole series would have been much easier to swallow if Harry had been on board from the beginning of episode 3!
